I am a PhD candidate in Composition and Rhetoric at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. My areas of research interest are literacy studies and computers & writing. I also serve as the Instructional Technology Coordinator for the UMass Writing Program.

Projects on this Site

The following are some projects currently using this site:

• UMASS Amherst Writing Program Technology Fellows -- A year-long collaborative effort directed by Donna LeCourt^? and assisted by me in which selected Writing Program teachers study, plan, implement, and assess computers and writing projects for their classroom.
• UMass Writing Program Resource Web -- Login required. A repository of resources and exercises for Writing Program teachers. This replaces a homemade application using MS SQL Server and ASP.
• Ad Hoc Committee on Student Plagiarism -- Collaborative documents produced by the ad hoc faculty committee on plagiarism.
• Basic Writing Web -- Login required. A collaborative writing space for teachers of Basic Writing at UMass.
• English Department Graduate Student Conference -- Information about the 2007 English Department Graduate Student Conference at UMass Amherst.
• Writing Center website -- Writing Center website redesign project.

Offsite Projects...

• Writing Center Tutoring Database:
  • "Kiosk" version -- this version was designed so that students could sign themselves in. This version was abandoned before it was implemented.
  • Searchable version -- this is current version in use. It is designed with the understanding that tutors or a Writing Center receptionist enters and maintains student records.
• NetworkedComputerLab -- I put this lab together using recycled computers from the UMass Amherst Office of Information Technology.
• UMass Writing Program Website -- this site runs on Microsoft IIS 5.0. The pages are written in ASP 3.0, and the menu is a combination of ASP, DHTML, and XML.
• Amherst Adult Learning Center Website -- this site redesign is in development. More to come.
